Description

Although the programming code needed to develop a theme or plugin is universal, the texts for the user are not.

Usually, the instructions within a theme or plugin, settings buttons, and descriptions are in English. However, not everyone speaks it or is comfortable with the computer language.

Translating your theme or plugin shows your customer focus.

Also, it allows you to reach a wider audience.

Translating a WordPress theme or plugin

Italian Polyglots team, of which I am a proud member, takes care for free of the translation of free WordPress themes and plugins.

Despite all the efforts that Italian Polyglots put into ensuring the translation of the free themes and plugins present in the WordPress Repository, Gutenberg, the new versions of WordPress itself, Openverse and WordPress Learn, there are thousands of themes and plugins and ensuring the translation of all 100% takes time.

As a free service, we do it out of passion at our pace, and it can’t be scheduled or at a specific delivery deadline as we do it in our spare time.

For example, I am managing the translation from English to Italian of all the most widely used WordPress themes present in the TOP400. In the past months, I have completed the TOP35 to 100% with 150 themes translated from English to Italian out of 400.

So, if it’s free, why should You pay for the translation of a WordPress theme or plugin?

Excellent question.

There are three cases:

  1. A developer who needs the translation of their themes or plugins in a rapid time, both as a general translation, both as translation of the updates and looks for a dedicated translator to deal with fast and reliable delivery deadlines for free WordPress Themes or Plugins, and asks for a translation quote.
  2. The developer or software company that developed the theme or plugin wants to provide their software in the Italian language in both the free and premium versions. Therefore, They want the same translator to get an Italian translation in a timely manner, respecting the consistency of terminology between the two versions.
  3. Developer or company developing themes and plugins for WordPress exclusively in the Premium version, often outside the WordPress repository, and you are looking for a translator who knows the Translation WordPress guidelines for themes and plugins developed for WordPress.

If you find yourself in one of these three cases and need to translate your theme or plugin (or both) quickly, then you can follow the purchase procedure and send me the .po file to receive the Italian translation within 5 business days.

To translate free themes/plugins in the WordPress Repository, you can send the link to the theme/plugin or the translation page on WordPress.

What is included in this translation service?

The translation of a WordPress theme or plugin consists of the transposition from English to Italian of the strings contained in the .po file, with a keen eye to keep the code untranslated and translate the text the user will read only.

After the translation, I read all the strings at least three times to ensure that they are correct, that the terms are consistent with each other in the various strings, and that each translation meets the WordPress translation guidelines.
Summarizing, the WordPress themes and plugins translation service includes:

  • Translation;
  • Italian localization;
  • 3 after-translation-readings;
  • Proofreading;
  • Check WordPress translation guidelines;

Important: Before submitting the file, ensure that the total number of words indicated matches the total number of words displayed on the .po file. If you don’t know how to do this, contact me or fill out the form.

Translation Portfolio and PTE WordPress

Although on Parole in Linea is available a general portfolio of all my work, on my WordPress profile you can view the themes and plugins that I have collaborated on, for free and for a fee, both as a translator and as a Project Translation Editor (PTE) that appear in the profile of each WordPress Polyglots.

15. In the case of reimbursement, there will be no point in using the translation received. Therefore, upon receipt of the refund the assignment of the copyright on the translation, i.e., any right of exploitation of the intellectual work (translation) provided by Parole in Linea, will lapse for the Client.

16. The Customer is obliged to submit objections within 14 days of receiving the final file. Beyond that date, the translation is considered fully accepted and the Contract terminated.

17. For any dispute arising out of the execution, interpretation and termination of this Contract, not otherwise conciliable, the parties acknowledge as of now the exclusive jurisdiction of the Court of Rome, or the Justice of the Peace or the Court of Rome, even in case of connection and continence of causes.

The Supplier reserves the right to request further data for the purpose of issuing the electronic invoice or receipt of payment to comply with the obligations established by the Italian tax law.

19. In addition to these conditions of sale, there are the general conditions of sale, which can be consulted on this website and during the purchase process. Completing the purchase process is considered acceptance of both the General terms and conditions.

Questions & Answers

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

1. I HAVE A GLOSSARY CONTAINING THE TERMINOLOGY TO BE USED FOR SPECIFIC WORDS. CAN I SEND IT?

Absolutely, yes!

In the purchase procedure you can attach only one file (usually the .po file with the translation), but you can write in the notes that you will send the GLOSSARY by e-mail and send it to [email protected] (If you prefer you can also send both files – .po and glossary – by e-mail. :)

2. MY THEME/PLUGIN HAS BEEN PARTIALLY TRANSLATED. CAN YOU TRANSLATE ONLY THE REMAINING PART?

The question is: certainly, but…

keep in mind that this way, you risk finding inconsistencies in the translation of recurring terms or the translation of other strings. If you still want to proceed with the translation request for only the missing part, I recommend is to create a glossary to send to me (see the previous question).

3. I NEED TO TRANSLATE A FREE WORDPRESS PLUGIN IN THE WP REPOSITORY, BUT I CAN'T WAIT FOR A GTE TO NAME YOU PTE. WHAT TO DO?

In this case, I recommend that you contact me BEFORE purchase indicating your needs, via chat or email, to see if indeed there is a way to have PTE authorization for your plugin. As I wrote in the product description, the Italian Polyglots work for passion in their spare time on the Italian version of WordPress and all related themes and plugins. Therefore, it is not always possible to get permission in a certain and short time.

In this case, purchasing the translation is only recommended if you need the .po file translated without uploading it to the repository (in which case the strings will be added in "waiting" and will not be applied to the plugin until approved by a PTE/GTE).

!!! If you need the translation uploaded and active (approved), wait to purchase. Contact me.

4. I HAVE A FREE THEME/PLUGIN PRESENT IN WORDPRESS RESPOSITORY TO TRANSLATE, BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DOWNLOAD THE .PO FILE.

For themes and plugins in the WordPress Repository, there is no problem. All I need is the link to the theme or plugin (or to the theme or plugin translation page) and I can proceed with the translation, according to the timeline stated in the terms of sale of this product (5 working days to the crediting of the amounts).

!!! WARNING !!! For free plugins in the WordPress Repository please read carefully the previous question (QUESTION NO.3).

5. I FORGOT TO GIVE YOU THE GLOSSARY BEFORE THE TRANSLATION STARTED. WHAT DO I DO?

Send it to me as soon as possible. Until I have delivered the translation to you, there is still time to send me the GLOSSARY. In fact, after the translation I proceed with 3 (three) re-readings of the text to fix the various inconsistencies.

!!! WARNING !!! If you forward the Glossary to me after I have delivered the text to you I will NOT update it.

6. I FOUND IN THE TRANSLATION YOU HANDED ME SOME STRINGS THAT DON'T CONVINCE ME. WHAT DO I DO?

Oops. If you found something that you don't like, I'm sorry. In this case, I suggest you send me an email to [email protected] with the order number in the subject line, the PO file, and an indication in the body of the email (or a separate word file) with a precise indication of the steps that don't fit and the reasons why.
I will try to address your concerns and/or make changes where warranted (e.g., missed typo).

7. I RECEIVED THE TRANSLATION BUT I AM NOT SATISFIED, I WANT TO WITHDRAW FROM THE CONTRACT.

As accepted at the time of purchase and stated in the Terms and Conditions of Sale and General Terms and Conditions, the right of withdrawal for services offered by Parole in Linea is valid for the statutory 14 days where the service has not already been used. (Art.59 Consumer Code – Legislative Decree no. 206/2005).

If you are not satisfied with the translation you received, you can send a refund request to email [email protected] with the order number and the words "REFUND REQUEST" in the subject line, indicating the passages of the translation that you are not satisfied with and that led you to accrue the refund request within 14 days of receiving the translated file. Parole in Linea reserves the right to respond to critical issues or assess whether objectively reimbursement is due.

Clearly, in the case of reimbursement there will be no point in using the translation received. Therefore, upon receipt of the refund any right to exploit the submitted work of genius (translation) will lapse.

8. IN ADDITION TO THE TRANSLATION OF MY THEME/PLUGIN I ALSO WANT TO PURCHASE THE TRANSLATION OF THE STRINGS I ADD IN THE VARIOUS UPDATES.

For this type of translation, it is necessary to assess how many words you plan to add in the various monthly/annual updates and based on that agree on an update package with ad hoc quote.

9. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HOW YOU TRANSLATE AND I WANT TO ENTRUST YOU WITH ALL THE TRANSLATIONS OF MY THEMES AND PLUGINS. AM I ENTITLED TO A DISCOUNT?

Certainly, we will agree it according to the number of themes, plugins to be translated, average length (in words) and delivery timelines.

10. BUT IF YOU TRANSLATE FOR FREE LIKE POLYGLOTS CAN'T YOU TRANSLATE MY THEMES AND PLUGINS IN WORDPRESS REPOSITORY FOR FREE?

As Polyglots I help translate and approve strings in the Italian language. I can translate for free, but I cannot promise you a definite timeline, nor that I will translate the whole theme or plugin by a certain date as I will take care of it in my spare time.
If you are in no hurry and prefer to wait sooner or later I or another Polyglots will get to your themes/plugins. Clearly we prioritize the most popular themes and plugins (in the TOP400) or based on input we receive internationally.

11. I ONLY HAVE PREMIUM WORDPRESS THEMES AND/OR PLUGINS, CAN YOU TRANSLATE THEM?

Certainly, they do not need to be the premium versions of free themes and plugins. I quietly translate themes and plugins that are born "Premium" or "Freemium", just send me the .po file.

12. MY THEME/PLUGIN CONTAINS OVER 2,000 (2K) STRINGS. HOW DO I DO IT?

For such long themes and plugins, the delivery timeline may change. Therefore, I recommend that you contact me via chat or write to [email protected] to request an ad hoc quote including delivery schedule.
